The Constitutional Council, on Wednesday, made public the following communiqué:

"Under the provisions of the Constitution, the Electoral Code and the Constitutional Council's organic law, the Constitutional Council announced, on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, the election of President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali as President of the Republic, after having validated the results of the presidential elections and the Head of State's securing the absolute majority of votes cast."
